Ebola Update

Last week we were able to help an orphanage in Sierra Leone with chemicals to stop the spread of Ebola among the children and as a preventative. Currently no children are sick but the country is in a state of emergency, please continue to pray that all children will show no signs and for protection for staff and their family.

The orphanage in Liberia we partner with was not able to update on us currently on whether or not any children in the orphanage were sick, they simply said please pray!

Ethiopia

Blankets & Bears sent out 50 blankets and bears last week to be shipped to orphanage in Ethiopia. The group's website is http://augustethiopia14.blogspot.com. They are trying to raise enough money to purchase new mattresses for all the children. Each mattress is only $45 and you can donate online!

Youth Group Partners Up for Missions

A youth group from the Grace Baptist Church in Marshall, Michigan recently partnered with Blankets & Bears. The youth wanted to reach out to others-especially orphans and together made blankets and collected more blankets and stuffed animals to send to orphans. It is awesome how one youth group or church can partner and join together to help spread this love and reach out to the fatherless. One eight year old from the church even wrote a beautiful letter to send with her blanket telling the other child though he or she may be fatherless she or he has a father in heaven who loves them! She even went on to teach them the song "Jesus Loves Me." Thanks to a loving youth group and leaders Karen and Matthew Domsic orphans will be sent the tangible love of Christ. Thank you Grace Baptist for loving!

Shipments in Route....to Sierre Leone & Uganda

This week two shipments are currently in route-25 warm blankets have been sent to an orphanage in Sierre Leone and 150 bears have been sent to Uganda! We have plenty in stock thanks to people dropping off by my house, classroom and even some sweet ladies who make quilts and hand crochet just to send out to these kids! Can't wait to share pictures when they arrive!

Love in a Box

Every Christmas a Baptist Church in Louisana buys brand new blankets and teddy bears and ships huge packages to my door steps for me to send on to orphans....and every Christmas I am amazed with their love and support. They have supported Blankets and Bears since a mission trip to Laredo back in the summer of  2008 but every year I am taken back by their love. Thank you Richard Kauffman and Martin Baptist Church-your love reaches Panhandle, Texas and children in third world countries!

Blankets & Bears 5K & 1 Mile

Blankets & Bears 5K & 1 Mile walk is our main fundraiser event coming up Saturday, August 3rd at MediPark near Botanical Gardens.

Race registration starts at 7 am in the parking lot by the Botanical Gardens and race starts at 8am. Packets and shirts will be picked up at 7am. Early packet pickup will be Wednesday, July 31st from 5-7pm at the Gazebo on Main Street in Panhandle, Texas.

Entry is $25 and all proceeds go towards shipping blankets and bears (stuffed animals) to orphanages around the world. Without you we couldn't do what we do-thank you for your support and hope to see you in August!

You are also encouraged to bring a new or gently used blanket or stuffed animal for donation.

Shipments received!

Shipments to Sierre Leone have been received! I am sorry I havent posted in a while-my computer hard drive crashed and so was out of a computer for a while but back in the game!

If you look at the papers these children are holding in their hands it is a letter we send to every child we send our blankets and bears to...the letter says,
"This blanket and bear is for you so that you always remember that you are a precious child of the Lord Almighty and He loves you more than you will ever know!

Jesus loves you! For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things!"

What a Gift of LOVE!

This valentines day this is what I found on my front porch...hand crochet blankets from a sweet lady in Oregon who made this just for our ministry of sending blankets and bears to orphanages. These will be sent to an orphanage in Sierre Leone or Liberia...we are currently completely out of stock of blankets and send.
