What a Gift of LOVE!

This valentines day this is what I found on my front porch...hand crochet blankets from a sweet lady in Oregon who made this just for our ministry of sending blankets and bears to orphanages. These will be sent to an orphanage in Sierre Leone or Liberia...we are currently completely out of stock of blankets and send.

167 BEARS SHIPPED-LIBERIA

Just mailed out 167 bears (this one included) to an orphanage in Liberia! You can check out the Sure and Firm orphanage at http://www.sureandfirmfoundation.com/orphanage.htm . We hope to have pictures of children receiving bears in the next months. Our goal is to supply all 167 children at this orphanage with a blanket but as of now we are on very short supply of blankets and need to furnish 82 blankets to an orphanage in Sierra Leone that has received blankets for part of the children at that orphanage. You can help by just looking in those hall closets for some extra blankets (twin size) and donating to our cause or sending any money donation to PO Box 1473, Panhandle, TX  79068. Just think something like a blanket you may hardly ever use could mean the world and maybe Christ to a child in Africa and you have the way to help them! Without YOU none of this would be possible.

100 blankets shipped

Today we were able to ship 100 new twin size fleece blankets to an orphanage of over 182 kids in Sierra Leone. We were also able to help the orphanage with food this month by a small donation. Our mission is sending blankets and bears-the tangible love of Jesus for those orphans in third world countries but occassionally we have been able to donate small amounts to orphanages. Our goal is to provide the other 82 kids with a blanket this year-you can donate monetary funds or blankets to Blankets & Bears, PO Box 1473, Panhandle, TX  79068. We hope to have pictures of the children at The Needy Today receiving their blankets and bears up for you in the next months. Shipment to Sierre Leone & NEEDS

We have just shipped over 180 bears to The Needy Today orphanage in Sierre Leone and have confirmation that they have been received! We are getting together a shipment of blankets for all 182 children and are in desperate need of blankets! We have found the fleece blankets are easiest to ship and warm. We accept all new and gently used blankets mostly twin size. This orphanage is also in desperate need of food. Our mission is to send blankets and bears as a tangible expression of Jesus Christ's love to orphans but at the same time we are hopefully raising awareness of orphanages around the world and their needs. Packages from Lousiana

I am not the only one who sends out surprise packages of blankets and bears....a sweet church in Lousiana Martin Baptist Church. For the last few years the church has been collecting bears and blankets during christmas season and sending to me to ship to others. If it wasn't for this church and people who donate Blankets & Bears mission to send tangible love to orphans would not be possible! Thanks for the sweet packages-sending them on to others!

50 bears & 50 blankets to Kampala-Sent with LOVE

Today we sent out 50 bears and 50 blankets to a new orphanage that was started in Kampala Uganda by a partner we have previously sent to now called Child Support Uganda. You can find out more information about them and how to help support a child there at www.childsupportuganda.org . I have posted pictures showing you some of the process of getting these bears and blankets ready for shipment. These pictures don't show the children who prayed for each teddy bear last sunday during church or me getting bears from one of the ladies, Rhonda Garner, who always is finding bears, washing and praying over each bear before shipment. She even will sew them if they are in need of repair. These pictures also dont show the sweet church in Lousiana that sends me shipments of bears and blankets that surprise me by arriving on my front porch. It also doesn't show all the sweet ladies at our post office here in Panhandle that make sure these shipments make it there, and seem to be excited about being apart of it. All you see are these few photos and in a few months we will see a few photos of the children holding a bear or blanket but what gets them there is LOVE. Thank you to all who support and to even the smallest like the lady who held the door today.

Race Packet Pick up

The Blankets & Bears 5K and 1 mile walk is this Saturday! We are having packet pickup at Get Fit in Amarillo on Georgia Street this Wednesday from 4:30-6:30pm, you can also register there during that time. If you can't make packet pickup registration on race day is at 7am.

Participants are also encouraged to bring any new or gently used blankets or bears on race day for donation to Blankets & Bears.

Blankets & Bears sole fundraiser event is underway! Our 5K Race and Walk is Saturday, August 20th in Amarillo at MediPark on Streit Drive near Botanical Gardens.
